What a variant is

A variant is a redesigned version of one of your pages with new copy, new layout, and new emphasis, built around the conversion issues Levri found in your audit. It is not a wireframe or a mood board. It is a page concept you can compare, refine, and use as the brief for your build.

Every variant carries the same brand voice and tone Levri detects from your live site, so the three versions feel like your site rather than three generic templates.

Generating from scratch

  1. Click + New
Top right of the Variant Studio gallery. Opens the create form at /variant-studio/new.
  2. Paste your page URL
Any public page. Levri reads the live page directly, takes a screenshot, and uses its structure plus your existing audit data to inform the variants.
  3. Pick a style lean (optional)
Editorial, clean, bold, premium, soft. This biases the visual direction without changing the conversion fundamentals. Leave it on No preference if you want Levri to pick what fits your brand.
  4. Add an optional brief
A short note about what to lean into (a specific offer, a brand constraint, a pricing change). Helps the strategist tighten the variants. Skip it if you have nothing specific.
  5. Generate
Costs 3 credits (one per variant). Typical generation takes 15 to 20 seconds. If Levri has scanned this page recently the cached path can finish in 3 to 5 seconds.

Why you get three

Conversion problems rarely have one right answer. Three variants give you a small portfolio of distinct approaches. Usually one plays it safe, one pushes harder on clarity, and one leans into a bolder visual or message shift.

What the score means

Each variant gets a score reflecting how strongly it addresses the conversion findings on your audited page. Higher scores generally mean the variant tackles more of the high-impact issues, with cleaner hierarchy and lower friction.

Free edits vs AI edits (refinements)

Two kinds of edits are available once a variant is generated.

  1. Free edits
Direct text changes. Click a headline, body copy line, or CTA label and type. These do not use credits and apply instantly. Use them for tweaks and brand wording.
  2. AI edits (refinements)
Larger asks like re-generating a section in a different style, refining the whole variant against new instructions, or asking for a different layout. Each refinement consumes one of your monthly refinements from your plan allowance.

You will see how many refinements you have left in the composer ("X of Y refinements left this month"). Free edits never count against this allowance. Refinements reset at the start of each billing cycle.

Controls on the report page

Once you are inside a generation, the toolbar gives you everything you need to iterate and ship.

  • Refine. Opens the composer. Type a refinement instruction or use the free-edit tab for direct text changes.
  • Compare mode. Toggle that overlays the original page screenshot next to the variant so you can read the change at a glance.
  • Re-generate. Generates a fresh set of three variants from the same brief. Costs 3 credits again. Opens a confirmation before firing.
  • Add to backlog. Converts the current variant into an experiment in your Experiments pipeline, pre-filled with the variant details.
  • Export & Share. Drops down to: Hand-off code (a standalone HTML file), Share link (public URL anyone can view), Dev brief (structured markdown ready to paste into Notion, Linear, or a PR description).

Version history and refinements

Every refinement of a variant becomes a new version. The version history panel shows every refinement of the active variant as a row ("C2", "C3", and so on) with a relative timestamp and a Show changes expander that diffs against the original.

  • Click any version to jump to it.
  • Start from original. Non-destructive jump back to the root variant. Your refinements stay in history.
  • Delete a version. Soft-delete with a brief undo toast.

How to pick a variant

Score is one signal. The other signals are brand fit, message fit, and how comfortable your team is shipping it. A slightly lower-scored variant that matches your tone of voice will usually beat a top-scored variant that feels off-brand.

  • Start with the variant whose hero copy you would actually publish.
  • Check the CTA. Would a real visitor click it without thinking?
  • Scan the secondary sections. Do they answer the next obvious question?

When to regenerate

Regenerating gives you a fresh set of three. Use it when none of the current variants fit, usually a brand-voice miss, a missing offer detail, or a layout that does not match how your audience reads pages.

If only one section is off, refining that variant with an AI edit is cheaper and faster than regenerating the whole set.

Before you build

Variant Studio outputs a concrete page concept, not production code. Once you have a variant you are happy with, the standard next step is to hand the layout, copy, and rationale to whoever ships the change. A designer, a no-code builder, or a developer.

Common new-user questions

  • Will this change my live page? No. Variants are concepts that live in Variant Studio. Your live site is untouched until you (or your team) ship the change yourselves.
  • What is the refinements count on each card? Number of AI edits made to that variant. Free text edits do not count.
  • Do I need an existing analysis? No. You can paste any URL and generate variants cold. If an analysis exists, Levri uses its findings to make the variants sharper.
  • Can I generate variants without picking a style? Yes. Leave the style lean on No preference and Levri picks what fits your brand best.
  • How long does generation take? Typically 15 to 20 seconds. Cached pages can land in 3 to 5 seconds.
  • Can I share a variant with someone who does not have a Levri account? Yes. Use Export & Share → Share link. It creates a public URL anyone can view.
